Born in the 13th century, Niankoro, the son of the shaman Soma, faces his father's fear of his magical powers from the moment of his birth. To escape his father's pursuit, he flees with his mother and learns to control his abilities. His goal is to stay alive and use his skills to avoid the dangers posed by his father's search. Niankoro's journey begins as he seeks his uncle Djigui Diarra, who can help him understand and manage his powers. However, his father, the shaman Soma, poses a constant threat to Niankoro and his mother as he seeks to find his son. This conflict between father and son becomes the main obstacle that Niankoro must overcome. Along the way, he faces new challenges as he reaches King Rouma Boll, whom he decides to help in the fight against a neighboring tribe, using his magical powers and strategic thinking. In this drama and fantasy genre piece, directed by Souleymane Cissé, the story explores the struggle of magic and power in the context of 13th century Africa.
