Description

Hikari 109, a bullet train with 1500 passengers, departs from Tokyo Station bound for Hakata, 1176 kilometers away. Shortly after departure, the railway company's headquarters receives an anonymous call reporting a bomb hidden on the train. The bomb will explode if the train slows down below 80 km/h, making safety the top priority. The extortionists, seeking to prove the threat, blow up a freight train with the same bomb. They demand a ransom of 5 million dollars for information on how to disable the bomb. The railway company agrees to the terms, but the police begin a manhunt for the ransom-seeking criminals, ignoring their threats. This decision puts all passengers in danger and complicates the situation. A mix of action, crime, drama, and thriller genres reveals the intense race against time and terrorists. Director Junya Satō conveys a tense atmosphere, where Ken Takakura plays Tetsuo Okita, and Sonny Chiba plays Aoki. The film demonstrates how the consequences of a single decision can affect the lives of 1500 people and reveals the complex conflict between security and law enforcement.
